Souvenirs to Keep Memories of Vacations Alive

Vacations are something that everyone looks forward to all
year long. They are times to free yourself from most of
your responsibilities, relax, be adventurous, and
make memories that last forever. Collecting vacation
souvenirs is one way to stay connected with your
vacationing experiences year-round.

What is the number one vacation souvenir? T-shirts?
Hats? Mugs? Nope! It's pictures! Pictures are number one
because they feature what you like best about the
vacation spots you choose: You and your loved ones!

Photo and video technology have advanced to the point that
you have many options to choose from for equipment. Those
that only wish to have a camera during vacation time can
purchase disposable units; disposable has even gone
digital! Those bitten by the photography or videography
bugs will likely prefer specialized gear for the specific
conditions they will be shooting in. The important thing,
regardless of skill level, is to get equipment that is
user-friendly, portable, and within your budget.

Many of you like to collect natural mementos from your
vacations like rocks or plant clippings. Before picking
wildflowers or any other indigenous "souvenir" provided
by Mother Nature, be sure that what you seek isn't
protected by State or Federal law.

Certainly you plan your vacations around locations,
accomodations, and meal plans you can afford. You probably
even prepare a specific budget and keep track of those
kinds of expenditures by category. Yet many fail to
invest time in creating the same kinds of plans for
souvenir purchases and wind up having to forego planned
items or cutting their vacations short. This isn't
necessary. Plan for souvenir purchases the same way that
you plan all of your other vacation purchases.

Collectibles make great mementos for both you and for
loved ones at home. If you are a collector, chances are
you'll find a version of what you collect when you go
souvenir shopping.

Your most important goal on all of your vacations is to
re-create yourself for re-entry into everyday life.
Souvenirs can be a boost to the rejuvenation your
vacations provided once you return home, and they can
be fine gifts to convey your affection and best wishes
to others. Keep souvenir collecting in line by staying
within a pre-planned budget and only obtaining those
things that you are certain will provide you with a
pleasant reminder of the memories you created for
yourselves!
